APNT Membership Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions (Terms) set out the terms and conditions of the contract through which the Association of Physical & Natural Therapists (APNT/us/we) will deliver services to you (you) as a member.  In order to become a member of APNT you must agree to these Terms and in making an application for membership you provide us with the appropriate consent to handle your personal information in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018.

APNT is a Not For Profit Organisation.

  1. The APNT and Professional Conduct

In becoming a member of APNT, you are agreeing to uphold the values and commitments of the APNT CODE OF CONDUCT personally and in your professional conduct. [Please ensure that you have read and agree the APNT CODE OF CONDUCT before seeking membership.] Failure to adhere to the APNT CODE OF CONDUCT may result in withdrawal of your APNT membership and reprimanding.

A member who becomes aware of any breach of the APNT CODE OF CONDUCT by another member is under an obligation to notify APNT as soon as possible

Members & Accredited Schools shall be given their unique login details to gain access on the Site. Members agree not to share or disclose their password, with any other person, including another Member. Breach of this condition will be considered grounds for termination of Membership.


  1. Application of Membership

Any person wishing to become an Accredited School or Member of the Association of Physical & Natural Therapists shall apply in accordance with our registration form as may be amended from time to time (“Application”).

Such Application shall be considered by us or our appointed representatives who shall determine admission or rejection of Membership.

We reserve the right to request further information, or to interview the Applicant by any means convenient including Skype, telephone or face to face, prior to acceptance of Membership or Accreditation..

Upon acceptance of any Application, the Applicant will be notified of such acceptance, and upon payment of the annual or monthly fee (“Membership Fee”) and acceptance of the terms and conditions of membership, shall become accepted into the membership & Directory and entitled to all privileges afforded to their approved Membership Package (“Membership”) or Accreditation Level (“Accreditation”).

We retain complete discretion as to whether to accept any person for Membership or Accreditation. We are not obliged to disclose reasons to an unsuccessful Applicant as to why their Application for membership was not accepted. We reserve the right to decline an application if we believe that the Applicant is not a good fit for the membership community.


  1. Qualification of Membership

Members & Accredited Schools will be UK & Europe based, registered self-employed freelancers.

Members & Accredited Schools will be registered with the ICO for data protection and hold valid professional indemnity insurance. They will be registered for AML if their skills offered require it.  They will be professional businesses with a good social media presence, website with company address on, and at least 1 testimonial in place from a client.

Members & Accredited Schools will be entitled to choose from membership and accreditation levels advertised on as may from time to time be amended (“Membership Packages”)

Lifetime Member status may be offered on an invitation only basis at our discretion, and shall be subject to the usual criteria for acceptance of Application.

We reserve the right to request interviews; carry out background checks; and/or request Continued Professional Development on any of our members at any point during their membership on an ad hoc basis.

If any Member is found not to be proficient in any skills, technical or otherwise, listed on their profile, those skills will be requested to be removed from their profile.

We may request amendments to the contents of an Accredited School or Member’s profile should we deem it untrue, unprofessional or inappropriate for the purposes of our Site. We reserve the right to terminate the Membership of any Member or Accredited School refusing to carry out such requested amendments.


  1. Membership contract

When you click or email to submit your completed membership application online you are subscribing to these Terms.

You will receive an email confirmation once your membership registration and payment has come through.

Membership is renewed annually, and you will receive a member renewal reminder from us at least one month before your membership is due to end.

You may not transfer any of your rights or obligations under these Terms to another person.


  1. Membership types and fees

The [proposed] APNT membership structure is being continuously developed and we reserve the right to introduce new membership types, each with its own eligibility criteria. Members who join APNT after 31st December 2020 will need to subscribe for one of those membership types available on offer then (subject to such terms and conditions as will apply at the time of their application).

Membership of APNT is subject to and conditional on the payment of an annual membership fee.

Membership fee levels will be assessed on an annual basis and members will be notified of any changes (with a full explanation of any such changes) at least one month before their membership renewal is due.

All Memberships are prepaid through our Site, or from time to time as may be deemed necessary via an email link.

Memberships and Accreditations are granted to individuals, not to organisations.

Annual Membership, is for the period of 12 months from date of issue (“Membership Year”) and shall expire immediately should the renewal payment not be received by the due date.

Payment breaks are agreed at the discretion of the Association of Physical & Natural Therapists and are under the condition that the member then returns for 2 full paying months before cancellation is possible.

Accreditation is paid in advance on an annual basis.

The Membership Packages contain all of the benefits and privileges associated with the level of Membership. While every effort is made by us to maintain all of the benefits, we reserve the right to amend the Membership Package offerings during the Membership Year.

Whilst reasonable checks have been made as to the quality of affiliated products and linked sites, we cannot guarantee the performance or quality of these.

 We reserve the right to make reasonable changes to the Site and/or Membership conditions and features without prior notice.

While we will endeavour to replace any benefit with a benefit of equivalent value, Members will not be entitled to any refund of any fee or portion of fees as a result of any change to the package.


  1. Cancellation and refunds

If you wish to cancel your membership and get a refund of your membership fee, you may do so within 14 working days of us accepting your membership application by sending us your request for a refund by email to Any refund will be made by us to you within 30 days of our acknowledgement of your cancellation (which we will send by email to you in such circumstances) and be paid to you in the same way as you paid for your membership.


  1. Right to refuse, or remove from APNT membership

We reserve the right to refuse or remove from APNT membership any individual if we have sufficient evidence that such individual is not upholding the APNT CODE OF CONDUCT and its values. An APNT sub-committee with authority to consider matters of compliance and standards will have the power to investigate and make recommendations as to whether or not an individual should be refused, or removed from, APNT membership and such recommendations shall be submitted to the APNT Chair and individuals appointed as trustees of the proposed Organisation for final determination.


  1. Changing membership Terms

We may change these Terms at any time on giving you 14 days prior written notice. If you object to the changes we plan to make to the Terms you are entitled within 14 days of the date of such notice to email us at terminating your membership. Provided we receive your notice of termination within such 14 day period we will:

  • confirm the termination of your membership in writing to you; and
  • refund such proportion of your membership fee as relates to the unexpired period of your annual membership (calculated by reference to the value of benefits you have received up to that date, in proportion to the value of membership benefits available during your whole membership year).

If you do not give us notice of termination as set out above then at any time the most recent edition of these Terms available on the APNT website will be binding on you.


  1. Termination of memberships

If having been admitted to APNT membership you purport to disclaim your obligations under these Terms or the APNT CODE OF CONDUCT we reserve the right to terminate your APNT membership in writing and provide you with a membership fee refund (calculated by reference to the value of benefits received up to that date, in proportion to the value of membership benefits available during your whole membership year).

Upon expiry or termination of any Membership, the Member or Accredited School shall be removed from the Directory and any online members’ community (including but not limited to any of our Association private Facebook groups), their details removed from the Site, and their access to Members’ only areas of the Site revoked (where applicable).

Membership of the Association of Physical & Natural Therapists is for individual use and is not capable of being transferred or transmitted to another person or organisation.

We shall have the power to suspend or expel any member without refund of Membership Fees, if such member:

  • has committed any unlawful act;
  • wilfully refuses or neglects to comply with a provision of the Terms and Conditions of the Association of Professional Virtual Assistants Ltd;
  • is found to no longer meet the Qualifications of Membership;
  • is found to have knowingly falsified any information submitted to us; or
  • is found guilty of conduct which in the opinion of the Directors is unbecoming of a Member or prejudicial to the interests of the Association of Physical & Natural Therapists.

Members and Accredited Schools are able to cancel their Membership at any point during the Membership with 30 days notice, however, we cannot issue refund for any proportion of Membership remaining. 


  1. Acceptance of our Policies

Upon approval for Membership or Accreditation, you acknowledge that you have read the terms of the Privacy Policy.

Members & Accredited Schools agree that use of the Site is governed by the Website Terms of Use and the Acceptable Use Policy and you acknowledge that you have read all of those Terms.

You agree that in becoming a Member or Accredited School, you will have access to Members’ only areas of the Site which will have security encryption to protect against external unauthorised access. While every effort will be made to ensure ongoing protection, we shall not be liable for any breach in security outside of our control.

As a condition of Membership and Accreditation, all Members agree to have their details published in an internal (non-public facing) database of the website which may be viewed by other professional organisations and government officials who hold the appropriate level of access.  The information published shall include:

  • name
  • company name
  • company website
  • contact information
  • therapies registered with APNT

All members have the option to create a public-facing directory listing that may be viewed by the public/anyone who visits the APNT website. The optional information published can include but is not limited to:

  • name
  • company name
  • contact information
  • photo
  • video pitch
  • bio
  • therapies practiced
    • Only therapies registered with APNT will be searchable within the site, but members may also list other therapies they are insured to practice within their profile/bio
  • areas of expertise
  • testimonials/ratings

We reserve the right to amend these requirements at any time without prior notice.

We may wish to publish information from time to time featuring a new Member or Accredited School, profiling a Member or Accredited School, providing a testimonial, or publishing an article on or by a Member or Accredited School. We will not publish any information without the prior consent of the Member or Accredited School.


  1. Copyright Policy
    1. Any material contained within this website is the copyright of APNT and, other than excepted below, may not be downloaded, reproduced or used in any other way without the express consent in writing of APNT.
    2. You may read, download or extract to print information contained in this website for your own personal use but otherwise you are subject to the provisions of paragraph 1 (directly above).

Our entire Site, including Directory, is designed to be viewed only.  Members and Accredited Schools are not permitted to extract any information from within the protected Members’ area for their own means, other than for the purpose of making contact with other Members or Accredited Schools.  Anyone found so doing shall have their Membership terminated with immediate effect.


  1. Data protection and use of personal data

The personal data you supply to us will be used to:

  • process your membership application, and membership fee;
  • fulfil your membership benefits;
  • for marketing, statistical and analytical purposes on behalf of APNT.

You will receive communications from us as part of your membership benefits, mostly by email. Other than as set out above, we shall not sell or disclose your personal data to third parties without obtaining your prior consent unless this is necessary for the purposes set out in these Terms or unless we are required to do so by law.

We will comply with the Data Protection Act 2018 and all other applicable law in relation to the use of personal data. We will process your personal data in accordance with the Organisations’s privacy policy.


  1. APNT Brand

Therapists who hold Full Membership may use of our name and/or logo on marketing material and websites.

Educational institutions running courses leading to qualifications endorsed by APNT may use our name and logo to advertise the courses which have been accredited or recognised. If you have been given permission to use the APNT name and logo, you must do so within the APNT brand guidelines. We reserve the right to approve how our name and logo is used in marketing and promotional materials.


  1. Advice Line

Any information, guidance or advice given, or suggestion made, to a member by the APNT, or any of its officers, does not constitute legal or other professional advice. Whilst provided in good faith and believed to be accurate, their application to any specific situation depends on the law, rules and/or practices as interpreted and on the circumstances prevailing at any given time and may also be affected by any detail of which we are unaware. Neither the APNT, as a trade association, nor any of its officers, shall be liable for any loss or damage, which may arise from reliance upon the same. Specific legal advice should be sought before taking any action based on any such information, guidance or advice given, or suggestion made.


  1. Guidelines for online peer to peer communication in forums, special interest groups or communities of learning/practice (APNT Groups)

APNT Groups are open to all APNT members. APNT Groups aim to stimulate discussions, ideas and debates and thus differences of opinion will be aired. The following etiquette is to be followed by APNT members:

Posts on the APNT website are limited to a maximum of 500 words. Pictures and documents cannot be uploaded, however you can insert web links to such content.

In submitting online posts in connection with APNT Groups you agree to the following:

  • Your full name and institution will appear on your posts and replies;
  • You will not use:
    • jargon, dense language and excessive references
    • exclusive or derogatory language
    • obscene or rude content, or content that belittles or attacks persons or groups
    • profane, obscene, rude, or illegal material or reference sites that knowingly violate intellectual property rights;
  • You will provide links to sources where possible.

APNT Groups are not intended to be a marketplace for any goods or services. However, you may find links to events, job advertisement links, coupons, and other promotional offers appear from time to time on the APNT website.

APNT accepts no legal responsibility for facts stated or opinions expressed in APNT Groups and does not endorse any material [generated by such APNT Groups]. It is the responsibility of individual members to satisfy themselves as to which facts and opinions should be relied on in any way whatsoever. To the extent lawfully possible APNT accepts no liability for any reliance placed by any person on any fact or opinion expressed in APNT Groups.

In submitting content to APNT Groups you grant APNT a royalty-free, unrestricted licence to reproduce and publicly display your user content in any medium and for any purpose, including for commercial purposes.

A member who is found to be in breach of the APNT CODE OF CONDUCT may also have their access to APNT Groups revoked.


  1. Marketing and Introduction to Clients

We may look from time to time to market the online directory and introduce members of our accredited and membership community to the public looking for a therapist.  This is a free service.  We do not charge our Accredited or Member Schools for this.

By joining the APNT directory you are opting into our free introduction service, Members & Accredited Schools agree to us sharing profile information in our marketing efforts.

The Association of Physical & Natural Therapists is not an employment agency and we cannot guarantee that any Member or Accredited School will be successful and hold no responsibility for any relationship going forward.

We shall not be involved with the relationship between any Member or Accredited School and person booking after introduction; nor shall we take any responsibility for the conduct of the client.

Should a Member or Accredited School be successful in gaining a client from an introduction made, such Member or Accredited School shall be responsible for the negotiation of services, contracts, payment and all other detail pertaining to the Member’s and Client Member’s ongoing relationship.

We shall not take any remuneration or commission from any successful introduction and the admin fee charged to the Client Members.

This is not a paid for service


  1. Dispute Resolution

Each Member or Accredited School of the APNT agrees and acknowledges that they are responsible for their own interactions with other Members and Accredited Schools.

In the event of a dispute arising regarding the conduct of another Member or Accredited School, each Member and Accredited School accepts that they should attempt to resolve the dispute between themselves, and if necessary, with the assistance of the Association of Physical & Natural Therapists.

  1. Events

Each of our events may have specific applicable terms and conditions, and if so, you need to check that you can comply with such terms and conditions before booking a place at such events.


  1. Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Members of APNT have voting rights at the APNT AGM. APNT currently has an Executive Board and elections for positions on the Executive Board take place during the AGM.

Members will be eligible to stand for election to the Executive Board when vacancies become available. While the precise terms of such rules may change we anticipate that:

  • There will be 1 vacancies in 2021 and members will have an opportunity to stand for election in 2020/2021;
  • The Board will have the right to appoint three Executive Members if places are still vacant;
  • Terms of office for Trustees are up to 2 x 3 years whether elected or appointed by the Executive Members;
  • At any one time, there will be a minimum of 3 and maximum of 5 Trustees, whether elected or appointed, in accordance with the APNT CONSTITUTION.
